We have just obtained a brand new Android 4.3 test firmware – N7100XXUEMJ5 – for the Samsung Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100). This would have been not possible without the help of our insider, so big kudos to him!
Samsung is expected to officially start rolling out Android 4.3 update to the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II in the month of November and to meet that dead line Samsung is releasing a new test build every two days, so it can iron out all the bugs before the actual release. Galaxy Note 3 root method released, doesn’t affect KNOX security status

Ever since it was revealed that rooting the Galaxy Note 3 trips the KNOX security status and voids all warranty permanently, we’ve been waiting for a root exploit that wouldn’t trip up KNOX, and such a root exploit is finally here. XDA developers designgears and Chainfire have released Root de la Vega, named after AT&T Mobility’s CEO Ralph de la Vega (a nice gesture that he’ll likely never hear of), a method to root the Note 3 without affecting the KNOX security framework in any way.
Root de la Vega will still set the system status to unofficial and void warranty, but that can be remedied by using the Xposed Framework along with the Wanam Xposed app (Chainfire’s TriangleAway app should also support this later on). The rooting process involves flashing a custom pre-rooted firmware that will wipe all data initially, but once that’s done, you can do everything that you’ve been wanting to do on your Note 3 but haven’t been able to because of Samsung’s draconian security measures.
Root de la Vega is currently available for the international Snapdragon model (SM-N9005), the SM-N900W8, and for the T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T variants. Hit up the source link for more details and to download the necessary files for achieving root access, and as always, be careful and exercise caution while attempting anything, lest you end up with a gigantic 5.7-inch paperweight.

Leaked roadmap confirms Android 4.3 update schedule for Galaxy S3, S4, and Note II

Here’s some more confirmation of Samsung’s plans for updating the Galaxy S4, S3, and the Note to Android 4.3 – French carrier SFR has released a roadmap with information about their devices’ upcoming updates, and it states that the Galaxy S4 will receive the update in October, followed by the Galaxy S3 and Note II sometime between November and December.
Samsung had initially said that updates for all three devices will start from October, but it isn’t surprising that the Galaxy S4 will be given first preference. As always, carriers in the U.S. will take additional time to roll out the updates, though if Samsung Canada is to be believed, all three devices should be on the latest version of Android (well, latest for now, by then Android 4.4 ‘KitKat’ will likely be out) before this eventful year ends, regardless of region and carrier.
In terms of features, Android 4.3 will add numerous new software features from the Galaxy S4 to the Galaxy S3 and Note II, while enabling compatibility with the Galaxy Gear for all three (though the S4 is already partly compatible).

Galaxy Gear firmware now available for download; oddly have Android 4.2.2 base

Samsung has started rolling out firmware for the Galaxy Gear (SM-V700), Samsung seems to have released firmware for most nations the Gear is available in, though for now there’s no saying what the flashing procedure on the Gear is going to be (if I were to hazard a guess, it will be the same old download mode that we find on every Samsung device, with a long press of the volume down and power buttons for gaining access).
An odd thing about all the firmware is that they’re all based on Android 4.2.2. Is it possible the Galaxy Gear is running on 4.2.2 instead of 4.3 as is widely believed? It certainly could be the case, and would explain why it is compatible with the Galaxy S4, despite Samsung saying otherwise. Android 4.3 could just be for the sole reason of adding Bluetooth 4.0 LE support, which reduces the power required by the device when using Bluetooth, in turn resulting in longer battery life).

N7100XXUEMI6 – Leaked Android 4.3 test firmware for Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100)

An Android 4.3 test firmware for the Galaxy Note II (GT-N1700) – N7100XXUEMI6 – has been leaked on tinhte.vn, which was then later posted on XDA forums by rayblo. N7100XXUEMI6 is the first ever Android 4.3 leak for the Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100).
It’s a pretty early build because Samsung has just started testing Android 4.3 for the Galaxy Note II a week ago, in total there are only three test builds compiled by Samsung for the Note II. So keep in mind that there might be a few bugs here and there, so make sure to backup all your stuff before flashing this test firmware on your device.
In the Android 4.3 update, Samsung has updated the core UI elements to more like Galaxy S4/Note 3′s interface, including the tabbed settings. Samsung has included many new features in the Android 4.3 update, many taken from the Galaxy S4/Note 3. Samsung Knox and Samsung Wallet are also present in this test firmware. Android 4.3 update is still under heavy development and Samsung may add more features before rolling out the official update itself.

Samsung’s flexible display smartphone

Samsung’s flexible display smartphone rumored

With Samsung officially acknowledging the existence of its smartphone with a flexible display, we were expecting to see details about its hardware start cropping up in the rumor mill, and that is exactly what has happened today. The folks over at AndroidSaS have published some specs of the device, though since they aren’t exactly a well-known source, be sure to grab a pinch of salt before reading further.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the flexible display-toting handset will feature a 4.7-inch display of 720p resolution, a quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash – those specs sound pretty much similar to the Galaxy S3 (except for RAM, which was 1GB on the quad-core S3, though the processor could be the newer Snapdragon 800 as well), and it could be that Samsung is recycling an older device to showcase the flexible display, instead of putting in top-of-the-line specs and pricing it higher than it needs to be priced. On the software front, it will reportedly run on Android 4.3 out of the box.
Again, everything is unconfirmed, and since previous rumors have suggested that the device could be a Galaxy Note 3 variant, there’s no telling what we’ll see in the final product. With the official unveiling supposedly happening next week, it won’t be long before we find out what Samsung has in store for us.

Note 3 Updates

Samsung updates for Galaxy Note 3

It’s been less than two weeks since the Galaxy Note 3 went on sale, and Samsung has already started rolling out updates for both the Exynos and Snapdragon variants of the device for the month of October. A new OTA update is currently making its way to devices in countries like France and Russia, firmware version XXUBMJ1, and while there’s no telling what’s changed, we do hope Samsung has addressed performance issues in the camera, which suffers from long processing times when capturing photos.
The update should become available to all users over the air and via Kies.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi update

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi (GT-N5110) receiving Android 4.2.2 update

At long last, the Wi-Fi-only variant of the Galaxy Note 8.0 is beginning to receive the Android 4.2.2 update, almost two months after the 3G and LTE variants were updated. The update was reportedly making its way sporadically to a few users over the last few weeks, but it seems the rollout has started gathering steam only now, so you should be seeing the relevant notification on your Galaxy Note 8.0 pretty soon.
Apart from the usual changes and improvements that come as part and parcel of Android 4.2.2, including lockscreen widgets, Daydream screensaver mode, dedicated toggles page in the status bar, and more, the update includes stability improvements and weighs in at around 660MB. It’s available both over the air and via Samsung’s Kies.
